New extension: plan for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources for own consumption.

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Indsutry, announced a new extension of the application submission deadline for the following categories of the “Plan for the Production of Energy from Renewable Energy Sources for Own Consumption” (April 2024):

  • Category Α – Net-Metering
  • Category Β – Net-Billing
  • Category D – Virtual Net-Metering
  • Category E – Virtual Net-Billing

The new deadline for submission of applications is October 1, 2025, unless the Plan is revised following a related announcement by the Minister.

Termination of grant schemes by the res and energy conservation fund 2025.

The RES and Energy Conversation Fund has announced extensions and important clarifications regarding the Grant Schemes for the installation of photovoltaic system, as part of the programme promoting renewable energy sources and energy-saving measures in residential properties for 2024-2025.

The updates relate to application submission deadlines, procedures under Category A1 (General Category), as well as the schemes for charging electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Key points:

  • The application submission deadlines is extended until 31/12/202511:00 a.m.
  • Under Category A1, applicants may submit an application even if the final Agreement (Simvasi) from EAC has not yet been received. It is sufficient to have submitted a request to the EAC for approval of the connection terms. The applicant may attach instead copies of the request to EAC for approval of connection terms.
  • The submission of a Request for Pre-Approval Update is extended from 2 to 4 months before the expiration of the initial 10-month implementation deadline, as long as the scheme remains active.
  • For the grant relating to electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle charging systems, the application deadline is extended until 31/03/2026, for applicants who have submitted an electrical installation inspection (PV system and/or charger) by 20/12/2025. This extension does not apply to applicants who will not complete their investment by 20/12/2025 and have submitted their documents directly to the Distribution System Operator for inspection.

Important update: new submission period for a1 & a2 grant schemes.

Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Conservation Fund has announced an urgent new application period for Categories A1 (Photovoltaics – General Category) and A2 (Photovoltaics – Vulnerable Households) under the “Grant Scheme for the Encouragement of the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Conservation in dwellings 2024-2025.”

Application Period: 18/05/2026 (08:00 a.m.) – 31/05/2026 (12:00 p.m.)

This new process applies exclusively to applicants who had already submitted an application to the Distribution System Operator (DSO) for photovoltaic system connection terms by 31/12/2025 but did not apply for the grant scheme during the previous submission period.

Please note that applicants who did not submit an application to the DSO by 31/12/2025 are not eligible to apply under this process.
